Howdy and Welcome! Thank you for your time; I hope my photographs have caught your interest. My full time job is PR related, managing public consumption of photographs and video, but I am not a professional photographer by trade on a day-to-day basis. Photography is a passionate hobby of mine, as a dilettante of photography, intriguing for me in its capacity to become art. That being said, when my photographers request a day off, I rarely ever hesitate to give it to them, giving me an opportunity to pick up my own camera and go out to shoot. I love photography as an art form, not so much for its  journalistic function.

I shoot with a Nikon D810. Her name is “Penny” (yes, I named my camera. When you pay over $3,000 for a camera, you kind of  take it personally) and if you get the symbolism to why that name, you and I likely would have the best conversations ever. I like having 36.3 mega pixels, giving me the capability to have a wide range of creativity with my photographs on Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I see each photograph I take as a piece of art on a canvas. I stress myself more on each isolated and singular photo, seeking and wanting the best photo, rather than caring foremost about the kind of photo shoots I’m going to photograph. If you have some time, please feel free to check out my Photographic Philosophy page, in which I expound how I approach my photography as a form of art.

My photographs have been featured in a myriad of public outlets:

City of Helotes’ 4th of July Photo Contest. My photograph won as most indicative of how it’s like to live in the City of Helotes.

My photographs have been used in official publications, like Science Magazine.

I live in San Antonio, Texas, but I love to travel and see new places, as you’ve probably gathered seeing my collection of photographs from across the country. As I’ve mentioned, my full time job includes photography. When working, I often go out to shoot officially for the military. HERE is a sample of some of my more work-related photographs.

If you’re interested in my photography or would like me to go shoot something for you (e.g. weddings, portraiture, etc.), or if you have some questions/comments on my photographs, please don’t hesitate to contact me at jrdavis2010.14@gmail.com or via my website. I don’t shoot for a fixed profit. That is, I don’t intend to make money off my photos. But I do need to maintain my equipment and photo gear is not cheap. I’m very negotiable, and my priority would be to reach a mutual and fair agreement. After all, what drives me is my passion of photography as art, nothing more.

Thank you again and I hope to be working with you on producing some really cool artistic photography!

Sincerely,
José
