Learning History

I love reenactors! And their wealth of knowledge on the subject they represent is truly impressive. Their passion and dedication are truly a treat to photograph. The aesthetic philosopher George Santayana once said, “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” We are visually-oriented creatures, so we tend to learn our history better when we see it rather than read about it. Reenactments like this ensure we learn our history.

I took this photograph in Texas at a local small town’s 4th of July celebration.
